Congresspeople love to take a stand on issues where they get good publicity. Everyone agrees drugs are bad and cheaters shouldn't prosper, right? Therefore, your senators and representative are going to go in there and "show" you that your tax dollars are hard at work. If they only concentrated on the issues that really matter, they'd never get reelected.

Wrong is wrong. Of course there seem to be bigger and better issues out there for Congress to get involved in. The problem is that this is NOT a small problem.
Every sports figure on any field is a role model. He is not affecting his, or her, own life, the lives of millions, maybe billions, of children can also be affected.
A child sees that their hero is okay with steroids, so they see no reason not to use them. The same goes with alcohol and other drugs.
Every person in the position to be a hero, or role model, should take a long, careful look at how what they do affects their watchers.

The reason that the congress is so involved with the steroid issue is because it shows that they have a heart and that they dont need kids to think that if great ball players are doing them the kids will start as well. Also using steroids are unsafe and very damaging to your kidneys, and other body parts.

Congress addresses the issues that it thinks wont piss very many people off. Everyone agrees that steroids need to be out of baseball, therefore all the congressmen are trying to get steroids out of baseball, its a way to pass time without losing voter support.

Congress is capable of doing more than one thing at a time. Spending time on steroids does not mean they cannot address other issues.

It is an issue that is high profile and can get positive press. Remember, this is a year of congressional elections. It shows that they are doing something, which they typically are, but who cares about trade pacts with Argentina? People know who Barry Bonds is.

It's a matter of national defense. The youth of our country will want to copy what their favorite player is doing. Roid rage will run rampant.
This is sad if it's really the case, huh?
