I mean, what if we did what they thought we should do to get us to like them, would this really be a better place, or would the world just fall apart?

Why be like everyone else? I don't want to be a conformist!

Perhaps if the USA stopped roaming the world acting like the ignorant bully on the playground, opinion of our country may be different. After all, how does a country as screwed as the one we live in get to hold itself so high above the rest of the world - to determine who gets bombed and who gets aid?
When our grandfathers stormed the beaches at Normandy - they were heroes. I don't know what the hell we are now.

The world would be a better place if we didnt use our might to crush and defeat and invade and orchestrate coups and support dictators etc

Unfortunately, none of those things help jack up the price of oil or sell armaments so the corporate presidents and congress are not interested in it and neither is the corporate media

How would your life be better if you chucked your convictions to please others? Are more friends worth sacrificing your principles?

It's about leadership and standing for your ideals and not someone else's. That's what makes us who we are. The people who know that are our friends or at least respect us. Those that don't understand that never will and are unbalanced in their view of us by their ignorance (not necessarily any fault of their own).
The moment we start trying to please eveyone else instead of doing what's right for us (difficult as it may be), we've lost what most of the world respects about us. JMO

We should educate USA to become a good super-power who does not bully small nations. But I still say most Americans are good people. It's a bunch of people at the top who create ugly image for them.

There would probably be a sole governing body of the world. One world government. The US would control the world

More people in the world want to immigrate to the U.S. than any other country. That says a lot about people liking the U.S. Only the jealous (as in all jealousies) 'don't like us'.

If the rest of the world liked the US. Hmmmm, now that would be a miracle that I would acknowledge. I would have no choice but to believe that god exists

Actually most of those who "hate" us try all their lives to attain the standard of living we take for granted. I believe what they hate is the overall attitude this country has.
Our government is constantly, right or wrong, trying impose their agenda on others. Our society takes our prosperity for granted and flaunt our wealth. Our people are quick to blame other for their problems.

This is what is hated.

It's just not that simple. Too many different expectations. You can't please everyone. We have to remain strong, lest we all have to start praying on rugs, not that there is anything wrong with that, if that is your belief. I myself like the freedom to believe or not believe whatever I want.
