Hi Dee. How are you? Let me be the first to tell you that you are somebody. You are not a loser. A loser is someone who doesnt care about themselves. I know you care and love yourself. Dont listen to anyone. Pray to JESUS and he will help you through it all. If you didnt finish high school, thats ok. If you want to go back to school, there are many opportunities out there. Dont let nobody, (even your mom discourage you). I believe in you. I know you will be successful in life. Put JESUS first. If you need anything, you can email me and talk to my wife from a womans perspective. Be blessed and much love from me and my wife.

Because high school is an important element in the transfer of cultural and class values. Knowledge of these values will effect your life chances. That is why you're mom calls you a loser.
Your mother should not put you down for wanting to get a GED, but she should explain to you the benefits of regular high school graduation over the GED program. There is a difference between the two. Missing the high School prom will make you stand out in a crowd and give you less in common with those kids who had proms. Having common experience with those kids who achieve success and status will make you more like able because of what you have in common with them climbing up the career latter.

Get your GED or I believe there are higher levels of high school equivalency. My sister did that and I had more respect for her after wards Now she is becoming a nurse.
Get your GED - employers will look at you in a better light than a drop out - you will be saying i was young and made a mistake - now I am focused and achieved something important.
And your mom should encourage you, not belittle you.
Go for it!

Because in this modern society, it seems that money is everything, and quitting school means you are going to have a poor financial future. I quit in grade 8, then went back when I was 21.
Also, alot of folks with Learning Disabilities drop-out, this is usually due to low self esteem, and an education system that doesn't seem to care...and by the way, folks with LDs are usually very creative and usually of above normal intellegence! The Answer is sometimes as simple as learning a new coping skill, which makes learning easier.

Get your GED or high school equivalency and show her whats up. People do tend to look down on others that don't have their education in certified form. It makes it much harder to get a job, especially if you want a good one. Every Mother wants to see their kid succeed and get their education. She just cares about you. She may have a funny way of showing it but surprise her and get that GED.

Because they realise you do not realise what you have done.
Go and finish your education, or get an apprentice job somewhere where you can learn anything.
This is the best time of your life, and it also determines the rest of your life...
I am sure you also know the answer as you have asked the question...
School is such a short percentage of your whole life....and you need an education and your mum realises it...If you really don't want to be at school, you need to go find an apprenticeship or a job somewhere so you have an identity and a life...

Go get your GED, not just talk about getting it. I dropped out of High School and have lived to regret it! I should have finished and went on to college, instead I recieved my GED (several years later) and had to settle for trade school.

It's because dropping out of high school nowadays is almost like a taboo. American society is so competitive that going to college seems like the only logical choice. But then again, where would we be if EVERYBODY went to college? As long as you find a job that you love, then go for it. I know a lot of people who didn't finish high school, and they're doing fine.

You should finish high school. Not only to obey your parents, but because it's a wise decision.
It's standard in our society. It's a landmark event in a young person's life. If you don't finish high school, it's hard to say what task you can/will finish later in life.
You will never be able to have a good job (good meaning not living paycheck-to-paycheck) unless you are incredibly lucky. Don't hold your breath.
It's hard enough to get a good job these days without a college degree, much less without a high school degree.
