You are worried because your period is late and you had a sexual activity with your boyfriend a few days ago.

In a woman's body sperm may stay alive up to 72 hours. Outside the body, it will depend on different conditions but it will live no more than a few hours. Also, once dry sperm cannot live anymore even when the area becomes wet again. When sperm has not had any contact with the opening of the vagina and has not travelled inside, there are no possibilities of becoming pregnant.

ONLY A FEW HOURS

Sperm can survive outside the human body for 24 hours...less if it's around something acidic like orange juice. It can survive in the womans body for up to 72 hours. Sperm starts to break down when it hits the air, starting with the tail it's weakest point. Crime labs can tell how long ago a person was raped based on the break down of the sperm which is also why they want to get tests done as soon as possible. Not to mention the whole great source of DNA thing.

But seriously 5-7 days...not even close...max 3 days in a woman's body...barely one outside of it. Promise ; )

I think it is a pretty short time. I work in a hospital and know that when a man has to bring in a specimen for testing it has to be within an hour of collection, and it must be refridgerated till the time it is brought in. Most men just wait and do it when they get to the lab.
