I really dont know what else to call it... lol, homophobe.
anyway, my question is why do people who hate gays, and preach the bible and all that make it a point to get online, or get in chatrooms or on forums... and yell about god, jesus, the bible (or any other religious thing..) I mean... does it make them feel better? or what? Doesnt it say something about "let he without sin cast the first stone" or something..? Couldnt that be applied to this situation? XD am i asking too many questions? (btw, sorry for being a bit random and incomprehensible, im really tired...)

PS: this is not meant to be offensive... or at least i tried not to make it sound offensive. I really wish i knew a better word for homophobe... Also, i apologise to any preists, or preachers out there. This wasn't meant to single you out. ( - _ ^ )

-.- sorry this is the last addition i promise. A friend of mine also stated that it said in the bible to forget the old testamate and to just accept jesus into your life and you'll be saved or something. =D Anyone know anything about that?

I totally agree with you. We're all people. But yeah, I guess it makes people to point fingers. Draws everyone's attentions away from their own sins. I definitely think that "cast the first stone" could and SHOULD be applied to this situation.

They do this because they want to feel justified in their hate, intolerance, and judgment of others. They are also insecure in their own views and possibly even their sexuality. If they weren't they would be content in just trying to be a better person and would let others be themselves. But instead they want to be very vocal and be very active in trying to stamp out something that they feel is a threat to themselves. Most of the time they really don't even know any gays or lesbians. And if they do they only know one or two that are stereotypical and so that is all they see and think all gays and lesbians are that way.
The Internet provides a safe place to be as vocal as possible and yet remain anonymous. So they feel more secure being even more hateful then usual. But in the end they would be as vocal in public when they are backed by other like minded people who rather then look at themselves and try and better themselves, they want to judge others and condemn others and try and change others to be what they view as right....
I hope that helped answer your question.I know a lot of people like this and I do everything I can to enlighten them.Working together we can all do our part to open eyes to the reality that we are all people just trying to have a life of our own.

You're very right about the term homophobia being counterintuitive. The fear that homophobes have is not OF homosexuals, it is that they themselves might have uncontrolled feelings that they do not approve of. Many Christians preach intolerance because it's what they were taught and, they always lack clearly defined logic, relying instead on a set of rules that their oppopnents may or may not agree to, ie the Bible. Even though I'm fairly certian homosexuality is disallowed in many religions, I have only ever heard Christians try to convert people by telling them they're going to Hell. Everyone seems to realize of assinine that is.

"What people do not understand, they fear.
What people fear, they hate.
What people hate, they kill.
God Loves, Men Kill"
So much for religious groups, organizations, etc, preaching Love and Respect for all Except certain groups of people.
I was raised Catholic all my life and I can say not all Catholic or even Christians think the same.
I can only pray they will open their eyes.
I also let them know WHO I am as an individual first then anything else afterwards.
I am also a child of God, Allah, Yahweh, The Creator, etc, like everyone else.
The Creator loves me the same as all of humanity, not one more or less than the other.
"In man's unending pursuit of salvation the distractions of his science or his religion may be the very thing keeping him from his Creator."
"Spirituality is not religion.
Religion divides people.
Belief in something unites them."
"Never Regret,
Never Forget,
The Gift From Above
Unconditional Love"
"If of the many truths you find one and follow it blindly.
It becomes a falsehood and you a fanatic"

They lack selfesteem an dthey think by preaching fear they will magically convert people who are gay back to being straight.
But you also need to remember religion is nothing more than a way ti exploit the ignorance of people.
There is a great quote in my profile:
Religion is regarded by the common people as true; by the wise as false and by rulers as usefull.
Remember that....

It's OK, mikey, homophobe is the correct term. These people have a horror of homosexuality because of an incorrect perception and belief about them, and because their religion condemns gays, or so they say. It's always something with these people. Used to be drink. Once it was vaccination. One time it was lightning rods. Thwarting God's will, you know.

i think some people just want to get the word out about jesus. some people might come across the wrong way, or just dont know how to go about doing that. youre right about "let he without sin cast the first stone" but i guess its also important to not let a brother sin in ignorance...i dont know...

They believe that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by an angry god because of homosexuals, and they fear the same fate for this country. Also, homosexuals make a handy scapegoat for people who cannot face their own flaws and failings and so need to project on someone else.

I think they have to continue to convince themselves that it's wrong. They think they can change someone by shoving scripture and verses in their face. And whenever someone shoves a book in your face your first response is to push it away.
Pressing on ...
Yes, there are the lovely passages of "let he who is without sin first cast a stone at her" and "judge not that ye shall not be judged" but they seem to get overlooked.
Lots of sticky Bible pages I assume.

"You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; that is an abomination." Leviticus 18:22
"Make no mistake: no fornicator or idolator, none who are guilty either of adultery or of homosexual perversion, no thieves or grabbers of drunkards of slanderers or swindlers, will possess the kingdom of God." - the letters of St. Paul
"God has given [people who worship false gods] up to shameful passions. Their women have exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and their men in turn, giving up natural relations with women burn with lust for one another; males behave indecently with males and paid in their own persons the fitting wage of such perversion."- Letters of St. Paul
No it's just what our religion tells us
