Conceited is having a very high opinion you have of yourself (whether in general or in specific aspects of yourself or in certain instances).
It is often seen as a negative thing, but doesn't have to be in every case. Sometimes it's just self-confidence
Arrogance is making assumptions or behaving negatively toward other people on the basis of that conceit--regardless of how accurate that conceit is.
Example:
Believing that my answer to this question is pretty darn good is conceited (I hope not in a negative way)
but,
Assuming that all the other answers are lousy and that the people who posted them are stupid would be arrogant (and btw, I don't believe that at all)
Hope this helps

Someone who's conceited thinks highly of themselves, generally excessively so, since the word has a negative connotation.
Arrogance is also negative, but it's based on on exaggeration of one's importance, often without grounds.
You can be conceited without saying a word, but being arrogant generally requires overbearing speech. Someone who's conceited may really have all the importance he or she thinks so highly of in himself or herself, whereas an arrogant person generally doesn't have the importance he or she pretends to.

I disagree with some earlier answers. yes, both are undesirable traits revolving around an inflated or high self assessment but it seems arrogance is more likely to be a merited attitude and conceit is self-delusional.
In other words the arrogant think they are great and ARE.
The conceited think they are great and are NOT.

both unattractive traits I'm told. I think the difference is that conceited people are people who have highly attractive looks, skills, abilities, talents, etc. and they know it so they sometimes "puff their chest out" too much. Whereas, in my opinion, arrogant people are just snobbish and don't necessarily have a "right" to be that way. Even ugly, untalented, ignorant people can be arrogant.

I think you can be conceited about your arrogance, but I'm not sure you can be arrogant about your conceit.

Actually they appear as synonyms in Dictionary !
But a person who is conceited is full of Vanity .
One could be Arrogant regarding anything .
None of them are justified in my opinion .
