I think for the long run it does not really matter, but I am assuming your are in HS in which case it does matter in the short term as this will impact where you go to college. Any with college, this will impact what you first job is which sets the standard for everything else somewhat. So to answer your question, no it is not important for the rest of your life. Secondly, difference between a- and b+ is not going to afffect you long term or short term.

In the sense that you are required to achieve a certain GPA to continue your education, it is very important. In the sense of reality: how much information did you master? I don't think it means anything. Too many variables involved. Each instructor has their own biases in determining grades. Some take points for late papers, others don't. Some are easy graders, some are not. Some schools have harder grading scales: what is an A? 90%? 93% 97%.

Depends on what you're goals are. If you are still trying to get into college then an A- and B+ make a big difference regarding admissions. However, if you're in college already, the grades really don't matter. As an employer I'll tell you that we care more that you finished college than what gpa you got.

I feel that your grades are important because the better you do in school the better you feel about yourself achieving your dreams. Me personally I got a C but that didn't stop me from applying to good schools. I got into two of the best schools in the country for cooking. Really grades are important because it allows you to prove to yourself that you can do something smart
