The biggest problem is Biased content. When its a private ownership , the owner tends to use the media to satisfy his own particular needs. Responsibility dissapears. Media is and should be a consciousness industry. If the media org doesnt have its own ethics , it influences and affects the society at large. Because the Media is an extremely powerful mode of communication and it influences and shapes the thinking of the entire nation.

Quality becomes an issue with Private Ownership. In a public limited company , the funds used are public money , but in a private ownership , it has to be personal money. When enough money cant be pumped in , the quality suffers. But this is very subjective and debatable

It can shape the thinking of the people anyway it wants to. Even if it is not the right thing always. It can be better or for the worst. But Private Media ownership can do this. When it is a public limited company , the stock holders also influence the rules.

These are the major three problems a media org faces.

Private Ownership In Media

1.) If media is owned privately there is less chance that it will be influenced by the government, and therefore it can make less biased reporting.

2) However, the media can also be used to further the needs of the private owner, rather than reporting the truth.

3) Private media is often influenced by the need to make more money, and therefore the news is often simply about what people want to hear, rather than what they should hear. Example, People Magazine writes about Jessica Simpson rather than Gitmo, because buyers want happy fluff.
