It's called the mosquito alarm. It was a product used to drive teenage gangs away from shopping centres. Supposedly it's a sound that only those under 20 can hear. Eventually some smart kids realized that if they used the mosquito alarm on thier phones, their teachers won't hear it while in class.

Techno-savvy pupils have recorded the ultra-high sound - audible only to under-20s- (Mosquito) onto their cell phones, and are now receiving calls and text messages in class - without teachers having the faintest idea of what is going on.
The kids call it Teen Buzz, and it's spreading it from phone to phone via text messages and Bluetooth.
