Why nato exists.If any member nation is attacked the others will aid militarily the member nation who was attacked. If a member nation attacks a sovreign nation it does so on its own After 9/11 nato was involved in afghanistan When the usa chose to attack iraq, she did so without the sanction of the other member states

Your question isn't clear. Are you asking if NATO HAS been abolished? The answer is no, it still exists.
Are you asking if NATO SHOULD be abolished? The answer is again no. While our traditional enemies have faded, new enemies have emerged that still require mutual defense treaties: China, South Korea, terrorists, etc.

Since the end of the cold war it is less relevant because the opposite of NATO is the WARSAW pact countries and they are all free market now, rendering NATO a bit of a white elephant. Jules, Australia
