i was wondering what the requirments are to take the series 7 exam. do you have to be sponsored by a corporation? i'm a college student and was wondering if i would be able to take it before graduating.

Sorry buddy. Can't do it. If you get a summer internship at a brokerage firm, they might sponsor you but won't until you graduate. It costs a company quite a bit of money to do so. However, you can start up with a busch league company like Primamerica and get your series 6 and 63 but then leave there after you graduate because they are the bottom of the barrel. They'll sponsor you because you pay for your own text and test.

Don't bother -- wait until you are working for a company and let them pay for it. They will probably also pay for training.

It is a very easy exam, and though it is required to do certain types of work, it is really thought of by most people as being meaningless.
