Why should it be legalized? What benefit would it bring? The people who are going to use it will do so whether it is legal or not. There are legal forms of it for some cancer patients. I forget the exact name of the pill but it is to increase their appetite.

Though I do not do drugs myself, I do agree it should be legal.

This drug has less harmful effects than tobacco and alcohol to the human body and others around them. And, for the most part, those that do partake usually can only vegetate until the effects are dissipated.

Tobacco causes more deaths than most other forms of drugs, including those that don't smoke. Leads to lung cancers and activates other cancers, heart attacks and a slew of other major health problems. And, tobacco is one of the most highly addictive drug outside of morphine.

Alcohol causes damage to the liver and other parts of the body. And, for many, it lowers inhibition so much that it can cause a person to become belligerent and physically violent. Others, it may just relax them so they can be a bit more.... er, human. Alcohol is not so much addictive, as a medical problem due to a deficiency in the blood. Families that have been alcoholics for generations usually pass this deficiency to their children unbeknown. Their are medications to replace the alcohol consumption without causing the side effects of alcoholism or getting drunk.

The reason the US will NOT legalize Marijuana.... it can be grown anywhere by anyone making it most difficult to TAX. Since the Government cannot tax ALL growing and selling of the product, they will continue to make it illegal. And, of course, those that make big money selling it to the poor sods that don't realize they could grow it cheeper would not allow our politicians to legalize it... this includes the politicians that profit from the illegal sales themselves.

Absolutely. The government allows people to smoke cigarrettes and drink alcohol. Cigarettes are much more harmful to your body and marijuana is not addictive. Alcohol is the most addictive out of the three. Look at the families that are destroyed every year due to alcoholism. Look at the drunk drivers who are killed or who kill others. Smoking marijuana is not addictive and most definitely does not cause the massive amounts of accidents. Our government is trying to stop "The War on Drugs," alcohol and nicotine are drugs, but somehow those are overlooked... probably because of the tax dollars they generate.

Why?

It is just another drug to get high on and do dumb things and hurt your self or others.
Let alone the problems with making it legal. With the lawyers out there who would want to sell it`s 6 to 10 times more carcinogen than tobacco.

If it was legal we would see a rise in auto cashes hi on it as will as may other types of deaths.
Who can think back to the trains hitting each other because the guy running one was hi on it.

Yes. It would take the business away from the big time drug dealers, be a blow to them. It would be a good source of tax revenue. More people would be more mellow. we could use our law enforcement to work on the really bad drugs, meth, etc. The only bad thing about it would be the obesity problem would increase.

It should never have been made illegal in the first place. For info on WHY it was made illegal, I recommend the book "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" by Jack Herer. Of course, you can also just google "marijuana prohibition" too.

Yes, it is a drug, but so is caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, sugar, etc...

Laws prohibiting certain substances should be based on facts and the inherent danger to the individual of the substance in question, not ideology or narrow-minded morality.

-Pot is non-toxic, i.e. it is IMPOSSIBLE to overdose.
-Pot does NOT cause cancer. The active psychotropic chemical in it, THC, has been shown in studies to inhibit the growth of tumors and to destroy existing tumors by cutting off the blood supply to them.
-Pot is not physiologically addictive. It can be psychologically addictive, but so can sex, chocolate, sugar, etc.... There are just a certain percentage of people who take EVERYTHING to the extreme and have addictive personalities which lead them to overuse/abuse pot.
-Pot does not lead to the use of harder drugs inasmuch as there is a causal relationship between its use and the use of harder drugs. Very few people (less than 10%) of people who use marijuana go on to use harder drugs. The gateway theory has been thoroughly discredited in recent years but many still cling to it as a pillar of anti-drug rhetoric.
-Pot makes people more mellow and relaxed, whereas a legal drug like alcohol typically causes irrational, aggressive and even violent behavior in certain people.
-The negative health effects of smoking pot can be negated by using a device known as a vaporizer which heats the herb to the point of vaporizing its active components without combustion. It can also be cooked into certain foods or made into a beverage.
-Studies show little or no long-term damage in the brains of even heavy long-term users. The negative effects (short-term memory loss, motor impairment, etc.) are temporary and only last as long as the high itself.
-It brings creativity, insight, relaxation, pain relief, sleep for insomniacs and a whole host of other positive effects to its users. Can the same be said for alcohol or tobacco?
-It has been shown to induce a process known as neurogenesis in the brain. Literally, the creation of new neurons and a strengthening of connections between exisiting neurons which may account for the profound insights and philosophical thoughts it brings to many users.

To sum up, pot is perhaps one of the safest psychotropic substances known to man and the laws prohibiting its use are based on lies, fabrications, misunderstanding and stereotypes which are still far too common in this country as a result of its demonization by the powers that be for the last 70 years.

Legalize it! Regulate and tax it! Stop treating pot smokers like criminals! Support organizations working to end pot prohibiton like NORML, Marijuana Policy Project, Drug Policy Alliance, et al.

Heck no! That would be putting al the homeboys outta business. All these people tryin to make money so their kids can go to college. If they legalize it then no one would want to pay the high price for it because they could get it for less at the drug store. Duh

Logically, marijuana should be legalized and cigarettes and hard liquor should be made illegal. Will it ever happen? No.
