timeing belt went out on 2000 camry with 92000 miles, how much will this cost?

The cost of a timing belt is cheap. Typically around $30. It's always the labor that's expensive. Typical labor costs can range between $250 - $400 depending on the difficult of getting to the timing belt.

It's not an easy job to replace the timing belt. You're lucky you had a Camry. Toyota typically makes non-interference fit engines. If you had an interference fit engine, damage would occur to the engine's valves and pistons when a belt breaks.

Yes $30 if you can fix it yourself but you'll need some tools to put slack in the belt to remove and install. Go to your local library's website and they'll have a repair guide. If you use the general internet you'll get stuck on sites that will make you pay.

Really- I thought timing belts cost like 400 dollars! At least that's what I heard... I need one too hehe

3.5 hours plus .5 if you replace the water pump. Lets say most shops charge around $100 per hour. OEM Toyota belt is $61.09 and water pump is $150.95. 612.04 plus coolant and distilled water.
