My vote would be for 'light-based' semiconductors (although semiconductor isn't the right word)
The technical ability to replicate the integrated circuit, such as those used in computers, with devices using light instead of electricity.
Benefits would include lower operational cost, (resistance in electrical circuits wastes energy by creating unwanted heat) and faster switching times due to lack of radio frequency interference being generated that affects nearby circuitry.
Just my $0.02

Understanding of quantum physics will give us ability to read the 'memories' around an area or in a person, solving crimes and being able to "see" those in dark depression before they commit those crimes.
