I was at sea world and saw the stingrays and already love sharks and they are distrantly related, only depressed (body shape.) How much would it cost to own one, and would I have to have asome special permission or something? What would I have to feed it and how would I feed it? Or should I just stick with plan A and own a shark like I planned in the first place?

Don't know about a saltwater one, but probably. They do have a freshwater stingray down the road for $119. It's about 1 1/2 ft long. They are difficult to care for.

Anything is possible. Owning one may be costly as with any exotic pet. You may also wish to look into the laws and regulations for buying and posessing one. There are some very beautiful sharks available for a decent price and you can get those at a local pet store with ease. A pet store is also a good place to research the ordinances of owning a sting ray in your state.

There are freshwater stingrays in many local aquarium shops. They don't come cheaply $75-100 and up to thousands. You'd need to have at leat a 75-100 gallon tank and lots of moula$!

Cheers

the LFS (local fish store) has had them they are kept in a 125gal tank with small sand bead (3/4") and they are fed ghost shrimp (about 10 for $3.00)

now keep in mind their tank is tied into a multitank salt water system and has a professional supervising it everyday but they had lots of luck with them
