Our 1st anniversary is coming up in July. We are new to the San Francisco bay area and looking for informatin on the best B&B in either Napa, Sonoma, or the Monterrey/Carmel area. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Dinner at Gary Danko!!
Make reservations asap, but they make you feel like Gods just being there.
Also, check out Teatro Zinzanni if you are looking for an event with some entertainment.

Now why would you go to a lake, although a big one, if you had the Pacific Ocean? There are great B&Bs all along the coast above and below San Francisco, depends on how far you want to go, what you want to see or do, and how much you want to spend.

Although it's not on the ocean, my favorite place for an anniversary celebration would be the Madrona Manor in Healdsburg. The town has plenty of interest and feels homey and welcoming. The Manor dining is extrodinary with a first class chef, their own organic garden, and beautiful rooms. There are several good wineries and tasting rooms in and around the town. There's also a very good spa in town.

I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 14 years now and I'll definitely recommend you to go to Lake Tahoe or Truckee, they definitely have the best honeymooning spots. Going there during winter times is the best. If you want something different, try going to the Napa Valley for a very relaxing honeymoon. :) Have fun!

I agree with Junebug. Pacific Grove has lots of B&B's. It is right next to Monterey, yet has a nice, quiet feel to it. We have stayed at the Seven Gables which was nice...right across from the water. Look online for the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce and it will list all the lodging available. I have heard that Tickle Pink in Carmel is fantastic, albeit pricey.

Fishwife in Pacific Grove and Roy's at Spanish Bay (Roy's is a chain) are both great restaurants. Congratulations!

I would recomend any of the Bed and Breakfasts in Pacific Grove or Carmel. Try the ones in Pacific Grove first, there are a bunch of them right on the coast with beautiful views. There is a lot of neat things to do in the monterey area too.

I know that in Half Moon Bay there is horse back riding on the beach. I think that this is very romantic, and fun. This could be iin addition to the bed and breakfast, and or going to monterey. Happy Anniversary and I wish you guys the best!

I used to live in Monterey and it is beautiful there. If you like wine, you might go with Napa or sonoma and do some of the wine tours.

My wife and I spent our first valentine's day in Gualala (up the coast from Marin), at a great b&b called the Seacliff motel:

You can see the ocean from your deck (top floor has the best views), hear the waves and seagulls all day and night, in room jacuzzis and fireplaces, champagne... My wife was VERY happy with it. The whale watch inn is supposedly even better:

My wife and I stayed at the Blackbird Inn in downtown Napa and enjoyed it very much! It's walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants, but has a very laid back feel to the place.
