It can be hard. I had only $400 once but I was determined to get a car one weekend. I went to many used car lots. In two days I found someone that would let me drive off the lot with a $600 dwn pymnt on a $3000 car same as cash. Of course the more cash the better the deal. Look and make an offer...walk away if they can't meet YOUR standards. It's work, but it pays off in the long run.

Rent to own car lots .. they're the newest craze. Don't need credit at all. Just an income and proof of residency, and a handful of personal references, in case you move and they can't find you. The catch is that they still own the car till you finish your payments. If you stop making payments, they can repo the car with no red tape. But that's usually a last resort. They want their money, not the car back. Worth checking into. Also, once you pay it off, it really helps your credit.

Unless you pay cash, you're going to get a bad rate. You might try to trade your car to one of those pay by the week type places. Take someone with you that knows about cars and buy something cheap. First I would look into buying a used carburator. You never know you might just bolt it on. They make carburator kits for cars too, they might have a tune-up kit for it.

call around....i once found a $300 difference in price for a job on my car a few years ago. if you can barter a service try www.craigslist.com you even find a mechanic lookin for side work who can do it cheap....plus look at local salvage yards for a used part...from a newer car that had been in a wreck...otherwise i would just get a bus pass in till you can build your credit back up. DO NOT get a rent to own...you'd end up paying $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ way too much for a car. bus pass or fix the one you got.
