at the same time as i'm no longer a Yankee fan and that i'm no longer a crimson Sox fan - i'd say the 2004 Yankee Choke interest replaced into tremendous for Yankee Haters it replaced into no longer the worst loss ever. shall we face it, the Yankees have had a storied historic previous and this replaced right into a bump in the line yet for crying out loud they have 27 international Championship and as a lot as i do not care about the crimson Sox - the way they beat the Yankees and triumphing the international series to interrupt the Curse replaced right into a funky component. different then Yankee followers - the WORST LOSS that you'll be able to imagine and that isn't any longer even close. recreation 6, 1986 international series - METS/crimson SOX. The crimson Sox were nevertheless lower than the curse of the bambino. they'd a 2 run lead going into the bottom of the 10th - no purely did they have a 2 run lead going into the 10th - they'd A 2 RUN LEAD WITH 2 OUTS!!!!! 2 OUTS - each and each of the crimson Sox necessary replaced into on more desirable in and out some cases in the course of the inning purely necessary an extra desirable STRIKE and they could of received the international series. THE crimson SOX lost THAT recreation IN a good 2 OUT RALLY through THE METS - I mean that is type of remarkable. THEN TO RUB more desirable SALT INTO THE WOUND - THE METS/crimson SOX had to PLAY recreation 7 - THE crimson SOX HAD THE LEAD as a lot as THE seventh INNING yet nevertheless lost. So - there you bypass. I mean the 1986 crimson Sox dropping the international series is only the worst thanks to lose - exceptionally once you component in the historic previous of the crimson Sox and the intangibles. i understand crimson Sox followers that still won't be able to discuss that 86 international series

Ever other answer is totally wrong here! I do know what finally broke the curse! It was the movie that came out the same time the Red Sox won the World Series, "Fever Pitch!" My husband is a fan and believe me, that movie is really not far removed from reality in New England!
We were visiting the area the year before when Padro blew the game because of his ego. People were calling the radio station and demanding Brady be fired for letting Padro stay in to pitch. Very comical to think of now!

I love hearing little stories like these about the Red Sox. I live in Central New York and I didn't catch this story so thanks for posting it.
When I first became a Red Sox fan (before they won the World Series), my boyfriend told me all of the stories about the close calls in the playoffs and World Series and I've seen the clips several times. It all seemed to be one small error or minute factor that costed them the game. I believe in the curse. What else could explain these little things that went wrong? I don't think I could say what broke the curse, but I can also say that I don't really believe in coincidences, especially as weird as this one.

Johnny Damon sold his soul, and part of the agreement was that he would jump ship and go to the Yankees. That was so funny that it almos made up for my cards losing the series in '04. I would have rather the cubs have made it to the World Series and lost to the Red Sox, so I could die of laughter instead of just being frickin disappointed. I did however, predict the teams that would play in the world series that year, and won money in an office pool. I was wrong about the outcome however, but I still won the money.
At least the goddamn cubs didnt win though.

There is no such thing as a curse. The Red Sox finally get their act together for one shining moment and pulled it off. In any other business but sports, almost a century of such bad management would have put the company out of business.

Theo Epstein is the man who allowed the Red Sox to make good decisions for once. Read the book Moneyball and you'll understand what Theo brought to the organization.

My Yankees felt sorry for them and let them win.
That and the umpire SUCKED!
I haven't seen that many bad calls combined in my life!
No other explanation will work.
You do NOT win 3 and give up 4 in a row.
Not without a lot of help from a well paid umpire or 2.
