Hey eggman, it's Green LANTERN, not Green HORNET. Sorry.

Man, I have asked this of local friends so many times. I think they could make a GL movie now that would rock.

DC comics is way behind in making comic book movies, but don't give up. It's a growing trend and if they make good money off of Superman (questionable) then we may just get some of our other favorites. I would just about faint to hear the GL creed as the opener of a movie trailer. Whoo hoo!

So don't give up! I would also like to see a new Flash movie. The series was okay, but a bit campy. Once they get the campy out of it, it will sell like hotcakes.

Oh, and yes, marketability is a big deal. I have to admit that Green Lantern just hasn't had the collectability that other comics have had, but I am confident that a movie would be SUPER!

Hey, Olalalala: You're talking about the Jon Stewart GL, the first was a white guy named Hal Jordan (best one ever), there was another white guy recently called Kyle Rahner and then there was the idiot Guy Gardner. Look em up. Why are there so many? Because there is a whole Corps of GLs. One of my other favorites was an alien named Kilowog.

thewildeman2, that was a pretty good answer for the most part. I was about to type the same thing regarding the mistake on Green Hornet, & I'm guessing the person that thought GL was always black has been watching a little too much Justice League on Cartoon Network. However, some might argue with you that Alan Scott was the first Green Lantern. He is the Golden Age GL, & the first character ever to bear the name Green Lantern. Hal Jordan is the first major character DC introduced as a member of the Green Lantern Corps (the first character being the dying alien that gave Hal the ring), & is my favorite GL of all time.

Now, as for why people haven't made a Green Lantern movie, I'm not sure, but I'm thinking because the character isn't quite as popular as Superman or Batman. Also, until recently, I don't think we've had the technology available to do a movie like Green Lantern justice. Now, thanks to CGI, we have a whole realm of possibilities for superhero movies. I hope they do it, & I'd be interested in seeing who they get to play Hal Jordan. In his younger years, I think Patrick Swayze looked a lot like Hal Jordan, but I think he has aged beyond the role, & probably wouldn't have considered it anyway. As for who they would get now, I think I'd like to see them get someone who isn't an A-list actor, & give them a shot, much as Marvel has done with many of its movies.

A Green Lantern movie has been in the works for many years & for it to be made a good script, director, & cast has to come together. Rumors for a long time stated that Jack Black was considered for the role of Green Lantern, but it turned out to be false & Black stated that he had no interest in playing Green Lantern at all. You have to have a good storyline for the character & a strong cast to make it better & make it real on the screen. As for marketability,
yes, it can be. It can be directed to kids in a Toy Line & a Fast Food Tie-In, & in other merchandise that can be used to promote it. A Green Lantern movie has been in development hell for so many years & if it can pass that stage to be made into a motion picture, that will be worth the wait.

according to www.imdb.com, there's no plans for a green lantern movie at all. i think that marvel comics have got the right idea at the moment - they've already made movies of the x-men, spider-man, and the fantastic four, and they've got ghost rider on the way, and plans for thor, iron man, and captain america. dc comics are still playing catch up. they're trying to revive old faithfuls (like batman and superman) without looking at new ideas, like green lantern or wonder woman (sorry, i'm not well up on dc so i cant name many characters). green lantern would be a good film, but they need to look at making it over the next few years while the market still wants comic adaptations. if they're not careful, dc will miss the boat, and if they do they'll kick themselves for a very long time

hmmm...not sure. Perhaps because the comics were so sucky.

Isn't the Green Lantern always black? They could probably make a some-what interesting movie if the hire the right actor. But chances are, they would probably hire Will Smith or something to play the part. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

there is one in the work's. DC has said a few month ago that the superman returns movie has to do well first be for any other comic movie adaptation Gets made. so every thing's riding on that.

the two big movies for DC are Green Lantern (Hal Jordan )and the Flash (berry Allen.) you you better super man returns does well. DC entertainment is putting heavy Responsibility on that, to start their wave of movies.

coz green lantern sucks!!!

just kidding!!

jlf74464's correct, CGI does gives us a whole new realm of possibilites especially in a Green lantern movie. if theres gonna be a movie it would be definitely cool!! coz with CGI we get to see emerald jets, and other things that we could imagine shoot out from the GL ring..especially emerald jets =p haha..

FYI, there was even this rumor 3-4 yrs ago that actor Jack Black would take the reigns of GL in a movie. and from what i heard, he's still open on the thought of being GL. what a disgrace...
and Just last year DC brought out the mini-series "Rebirth", and it did got a lot of attention, and they started the GL series all-over again with issue #1, with the acclaimed Geoff Johns as its writer, and its currently going well, and from what i heard they got the attention of Warner Bros. i think, and are currently discussing their plans on a GL movie..(by the way, DC is releasing a mini-series prequel to the movie 'superman returns', i think it has 5 issues, and a proposed Wonder woman movie starring Kate Beckinsale). and in my point of view they are gonna make a GL movie, in 2yrs hopefully. and IT IS all about marketability and profit for DC, and because of the newly released GL series, it all looks good for me... just no Jack Black!!

Hal Jordan is the perfect GL for a GL movie. not Allan Scott, not John Stewart, not Guy Gardner, and especially not Kyle Rayner, coz their origins as GL are not that good. So Hal Jordan all the way, the original "man w/o fear" in the DC universe..

and yep, just imagine its trailer with the GL oath..
''In Brightest day...In Blackest Night..."

=P

If they ever do a new and improved version, I think Chow Yun Fat would make a great Kato... or maybe Jet Li.
