Depends upon where you are using it. If at home it might be the wireless router. If you feel that the receiver is transmitting a weak signal you might upgrade the router or you might consider changing the card if it is a PCMCIA card. Netgear makes one of the better cards and you could get an 802.11g card. They are also working on a new standard ... 802.11n, which should be available in a year or so. This uses a new technology with an improved method to transmitting the signal, which should improve the recption.

You can always upgrade your wireless card to one that has a more powerful antenna. There are some with over 400 watt antennas where as most cards only have a 20 watt antenna. If yours has an external antenna you can always make a directional antenna which can be done with just a soup can and some time. I have actually gotten a 3 mile range using similar techniques

Disabling power saving modes will usually help (refer to manual).
Certain Linksys Routers support third party firmware by the name of 'Alchemy' that add on a signal strength modifier. I maxed that out here of course.

You can go to your local computer store and find network extenders or you can just replan the location of your wireless router. sometimes the signal is better if you leave the door open.

Go into your network connections. Right click on your wireless connection. properties, configure, advance, look for power output, in the proptry box, under value, select 100%. The select power save mode, and under value, make sure disabled is seltected.
