they let the bullpen go. they cant hold leads late in the game. they have also forgot how to play defence. they are commiting way too many errors and giving teams second and third chances.

First off, to amace020: The Indians are a fine team, always have been and always will be. Drop off the deep end if you don't like our team! Who put the Yanks out of the run for the World Series in the 90s? HUH?
The reason the team is not doing well this year is: INCONSISTENCY! The end.
The season is young, anything can happen in baseball. GO INDIANS!!!!!!!!! Anyone who wants to crack on MY team or MY city can meet me in the alley ok? :>

Everyone is quick to answer "The Coco Crisp Trade". I don't think it's that. Crisp is not a true centerfielder, he excelled in leftfield for the tribe last season.

The coaching staff has been doing their job. It's the players that are not performing. Peralta has been half-assing the whole season. Ditto to Belliard. The players have been making a lot of mental mistakes (i.e. poor baserunning, getting down when an error happens), and they just need to get over that. Granted, mistakes are going to happen, everyone his human the last time I checked.

No one expected the Tigers to be rolling in first place either.

As a result of a couple of things. Inconsistent offense and pitching. Once everything gels together they should be fine. The season is not even half done so, I wouldn't be surprise if they start turning it around soon.

Because they're the CLEVELAND INDIANS.

Seriously-- this team defines hapless.

Other than the mid nineties heyday-- this team has always blown.
