It's really frustrating to see the lack of respect for the history of the sport of PROFESSIONAL WRESTlING, not Sports Entertainment (what a joke).

It's a shame to see that you people know absolutely nothing about the history of wrestling, all you think wrestling is, is Diva Search Contests, and John Cena. Wrestling is probably in the poorest state it's ever been in becuase Vince McMahon is the only major promoter in "Sports Entertainment" and he has made wrestling a dirty word, replacing it with boring slugfests and Diva searches.

If i asked you people who the better wrestler is out of Batista and Jerry Lynn, you would all go for Batista becuase he is the bigger guy, but what you fail to realise is that while Batista was injecting himself with steroids back in 99, Jerry Lynn was putting on 5 Star Classics with the likes of Rob Van Dam.

And if i asked you what the better match was out of Cena v Angle, and AJ Styles V Samoa Joe, you know which one youd pick. And its a damn shame

While I will give it to you that Cena v. Angle is not a good mach, Styles v. Samoa Joe does not compare to classic matches either. If you want to talk history don't bring up an even more watered down promotion that WWE in TNA. TNA is simply continuing the disney-esque wrestling present is WWC of old. For God's sake the tape their show at Universal Studios (coincidentally WWE has exclusive TV rights with NBC Universal)... Yeah, anyway... Styles v. Samoa Joe isn't much better... if you are going to try to sound knowlegeable at least talk indie guys, how about CM Punk... I know he is under contract with WWE and wrestled in TNA but he really is something new. His feud with Samoa Joe in Ring of Honor was the best, best of three ever, made Samoa Joe watchable. Besides how can you ignore him, he has been managed by Ricky Steamboat and Bobby Henan... I think he shows how bright the future for WWE really could be (though I think he would be a better ECW addition).

I dont't reaaly know where you're going with this. Yes! All the old superstars were great, but its because of Vince Mcmahon that it's where it is today. I enjoyed watching Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair, Honkey Tonk Man, and the Million Dollar Man wrestle no dought.

If your tring to say that those days are better than now then you sourly mistaken, and let me tell you why. Did you ever notice that the arenas used to hold a couple of thousand people if that, and now they hold 20 + 000 people and the reason is because of the rebirth of the WWE. You always knew when Dusty Rhodes steped into the ring you always new who was going to win.

I just recentle bought the Dusty Rhodes DVD at walmart and to tell you the truth its not that great. He always won and the matched were quite boring. I also have the Undertakers movie and its ten times better to me. I dont know what your feelings are on that, but mine are its not the same. People dont care about five star matches anymore people want blood, chairs, tables. and barbed wire. It entertaining unlike the older matches. Sure I seems to me that your a traditional wrestler, and thats all fine and well, but you need to step in to the new century, and ask yourself whats the better show. I got something for you watch an old match and watch a TLC match for instance and you tell me which one you enjoyed the most.

So my answer is that I dont agree with you, and you said that its a shame the way things are now, well i think its a shame that you cant see whats better.

I liked your question!!!! Peace and love man Good night!!!!

LOL! You make it seem like these guys really are really competing with each other in the ring?!!! I know it has become quite the circus but McMahon does give the fans what they want and the bottom line in this biz is to make money and that is all he is doing. The wrestlers/sports entertainers are making more money than they did before Vince McMahon took over the family business and it is a hard business to be in. I say hats off to all the WWE wrestlers for going through the hell they have to go through even though all the matches are scripted.

I totally agree w/what you said. Wrestling is really at a low point right now. One of the answers said it was better than it was back then and I can't agree w/them. I much prefer the wrestling back in the late 1980s and early 90s. That's when I first starting watching it and I remember just being mesmerized. I hate these diva searches, I just wish they would recruit more female wrestlers and have them WRESTLE, not have water fights or pillow fights. And yeah, I crack up every time I see someone claim John Cena or Randy Orton as the best wrestler ever. That's a joke.

All I can say is chin up, and hope that it gets better. We can hope, right? :)

I've been watching wrestling since 1987 which is when I was born. I hate it when people say the best wrestler in history is John Cena, Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio. I hate how wrestlers these days can be main eventers just because they can talk on a mic. True wrestlers make their living in the ring. If you ask me who the best wrestler in wrestling today has to be Kurt Angle. Why? He can talk on the mic, do submissions, work off the top rope, and sell the moves that are performed on him. Plus I am a fan of the old school moves, and if you look at his list of moves... it consists of German Suplexes, Belly to Belly Suplex, Snapmare Takedown, Hip Toss, etc. He proves that clasic moves can still be entertaining in todays wrestling.

you don't have to go back very far to see professional wrestling at its peak.
i would say that a couple of years back that edge, christian, the hardy boys, shane mcmahon, and mick foley did some of the craziest things seen in pro wrestling.
maybe not as crazy as ecw or japanese wrestling.... but that stuff is dangerous.... and obviously there have been accidents before and people in charge have to be very careful now... so there aren't as many crazy stunts.

wrestling as an art in the ring isn't all that great. i mean, they make it look okay now - certainly better than it was back in the day.... despite some wrestlers being full of steroids, the majority of today's wrestlers - the spirit squad for example - are fantastic athletes who train a heck of a lot.
so the product you get in the ring is solid nowadays.

i enjoy the entertainment portion, actually.
since the women wrestlers get to wrestle as well, it's not so degrading to see them participate in water balloon matches now and then.
i don't think so anyway.
as long as it's kept as a bi-weekly thing or something like that.

sometimes they go a bit overboard i think....... but it's not so bad.

I agree to an extent. The portrayl of wrestling, in a large part due to the WWE because of the lack of competition, disrespects the actual wrestling part in exchange for entertainment. However, everybody has been guilty of this from WWE, WCW, ECW, ROH, etc. The worst vilian right now has to be TNA with their repetitive storylines, false finishes, and glass ceiling. I believe that anybody who is looking at TNA as an alternative to WWE right now will be disappointed as TNA is heading down the exact same road WCW did before closing

wrestling officially started as a circus type of show back in the 1912 were guys like you and me would take on normal size wrestlers and during the second fight thay ou bring in what they called a shooter which meant the guy was more exerienced then the last guy and people would lay down bets to see who would win and that is how wrestling got started then of course the first gimmick was a guy named prettyboy he was flamboiant and arogant and always new how to work a crowed either booing him or cheering Vince MacMahon sr. saw this and started his own company. then ted turner too thought it was a good Idea.thus W.C.W. was born. still say I'm ignorant huh.

I would have to agree with you. I Stopped watching wrestling for a while because with a lack of competition the WWE was a very poor product and for the most part it still is. I like TNA myself it is innovative and it gives all of the talent in that company a shot. You don't have the situation in TNA that you have with the WWE where the title has gotten stagnate due to the same 3 to 5 people being involved in the title hunt. One of the things that stopped me from watching the wwe was people that I wanted to see win the title like a mark henry, Kane,Big show, booker T, matt hardy either had short title reigns or no title reigns. Meanwhile triple H gets 10 title reigns 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And he was out for a year with injury. The WWE suffers from short sightedness and a lack of creativity. Props to TNA and may they continue to be on the edge and to develop and promote all of the talent that they have

I agree
Ever sense WCW was taken out everytrhing started going down hill.
Im a big Batista fan but not becuase hes giant Ive been with him ever sense he came to WWE most people are just followers when it comes to likeing someone.
Also about Batista and his steroids yea he takes a ton but its funny all the steroids he takes Booker T is still able to kick the crap out of him backstage in a real fight.
