I donate many items and some pick up at your home. Your can try calling your local Salvation Army or Purple Heart and see if they take mattresses. If so, you get it out of your house and help someone else.

If not, check with your trash service and see if they will pick up large items. Some cities have this as part of your trash service. Or call your city or county and ask about pickups and drop offs for mattresses. Good luck.

Do not throw it away at all. Call the salvation army and have them come pick it up. They have a service and it wont cost you a thing. This way you will be giving it to a good cause and you can also write the donation off on your taxes next year. Its a win win situation if you ask me. I have included a link that will help you find the nearest one to you.

Run it in the free want ad section. There are lots of people who would be glad to have a bed, maybe for their kids even!! I'm sure someone would pick it up within a day or two. One mans junk is another mans treasure!

You can take it (maybe) to Good Will. (call and ask if they will accept it... Or a charitable organization like that. Sometimes, they pick up.)

Call Waste Management in your county. (Here, furniture can be set by the road and they will pick it up at "no charge". Sometimes, you have to call and let them know you have something to pick up.)

Try giving it away (if it's worth anything). Someone may be very happy to have it.
