I agree with you Vegas Guy. I love a good movie but ouside of that I don't need to know about their personal lives and I don't like to hear about theit opinions or politics either. Just entertain me like you're paid to do is what I say.

A lot of these people who read tabloids have boring, unfulfillng lives. I might sound like I'm making a stereotype by saying this, but I think that many stay-at-home mothers read these stuff, so they can have something to gossip about when they have tea. I personally think that celebs have been given too much exposure time by the media, while more pressing issues in the world like the conflicts in Darfur are put aside.

For the same reason why people watch sports, to the movies, etc.
It's an escapism outlet where they put themselves in a "fantasy" mode where they'd much prefer to be.
It's a means of escaping their otherwise routine and drab lifestyles.
We all would like to think that we can somehow live like celebrities which is never true because it's been played over the top by the media.
Therefore celebrities stand in for us and represent what living luxuriously really is like.

the reason why celebs are soo interesting is because people love to hear how F*cked up other peoples lives are. celebs think that they are sooo cool cuz they have all this money or make all these movies and when they F*ck up people like to read it. For ex.. people loved to watch jessica simpson make a idiot of her self on newlyweds because it makes them feel better about their lives

People waste their time because their own lives are so unfulfilling that they have to live vicariously through tom cruise and brad pitt and their wordly ventures.

The media has forced it on society. We sort of think that celebrities lead the lives on the people they portray in their music and in their acting. People want to be near them and they idolize their fancy lives.
