That's a very typical response. No 16 year old wants his parents to be strict. But it is what they need. He may be more adept at trying to win the battle, but you and your husband have to stand firm, a united front. There are rules that he has to abide by. And this is going to be true for the rest of his life. There will always be rules. My sons thought we were mean for giving them curfews, wanting to know where they were going and with whom, if there were going to be parents at the friends' homes, insisting on meeting their friends' parents, etc. Now that they are grown with children of their own they understand and are going through the same things with their kids. :) What goes around comes around. One thing that our sons understand now, but didn't then, is that we wouldn't do any of these things if we didn't love them. That when we didn't let them go to a party where we knew there would be alcohol was another way of saying "I love you." In a few years your son will be thanking you for being good parents. God bless!

All 16 year olds believe the world and everything in it is unfair. He'll get over it before he is finished growing up.

Dear Lord, Good look, My son was just like that now he's 18 and finally realized that we were being fair to him. But he is having a hard time with adult life now. But he does not want to come and and live for free because we are just ???? He won't tell us or just does not know how to express himself.

well, he'll get over it. As long as you know that it is for his own good don't worry. Of course he's not going to like it.
