I actually think he was required to wear one, he was just stubborn and arrogant and didn't wear one. He's gonna get hammered with a pay cut though.

Wearing a helmet was the law in Pennsylvania until about five years ago when the motorcycle clubs got together and petitioned the state so they could have the right to choose if they wanted to wear a helmet or not. The measure passed and not by state law they have the right to wear or not wear a helmet. I think it was a bad team policy though to allow him to have that option considering his teammates depend on him. When a superbowl pro like Terry Bradshaw tells you to wait to ride until you retire LISTEN! Its not like most QB's are retired by 35 anyway.

I think that Ben Roethlisberger should be required to wear a helmet when walking. He's apparently too stupid to know what a risky activity is, so why take a chance?

No. As a matter of fact no Pittsburg player should be allowed to wear a helmet on a bike or during the game either. Go Browns. Maybe Ben was trying to get in touch with his female fans-soar knees and a beat face.

In an interview he from last year he said he didn't wear a helmet because it wasn't the law so yes the law needs changed. It is the law in most states already.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Steelers asked for some of his bonus money back for his stupid stunt. Ben just caused all new NFL signees contract terms to change..especially ones where the teams are dishing out big signing bonus bucks...and rightly so, they have aright to protect their investment.
