You take what you normally make (say $8) then you take half of it ($4) and add it together so you would be making $12

Assuming you are speaking of work shifts. Time in a half is equal to your regular shift's pay, (ex. $10.00), plus half of your regular shifts pay, ($5.00), would end up with a time and a half pay of $15.00.

Regular Pay + 1/2 Regular pay = Time and a Half

Just use this equation:

normal hourly wage x hours worked x 1.5

take your hourly wage, devide it by 2, then add that total to your hourly wage, I.E. $10.00 an hour devided by 2 is $5.00 plus your wage of $10.00 is $15.00 an hour.
