They get hit by one hurricane, yet FL got hit by four the year before. And yet the residents of Florida received aid almost immediately.

In fact, FEMA is trying to recover some of the money that was mistakenly paid out to people in Florida who didn't have valid claims.

If only the victims of Katrina had such problems.

Anything to do with brotherly love? Or maybe a pay back for all that help with the elections?

For you information, we did NOT get aid immediately, it was nearly 1 week and a half after that we got ANY acknowledgment of being alive. I live in Northwest Florida and we still have damage. There are people with blue roofs still after nearly 2 years (Hurricane Ivan). We had no help from anyone, we were completely ignored! The gym at one of the local high schools had the roof ripped off, and just recently was it replaced. The reason we were "better off" was that we actually prepared. I feel pity for them yes, but hardly guilt, they got relief faster than we did.

I think my pet cat could have done a better job preparing Louisiana and New Orleans in the days leading up to Katrina. The best the Governor of Louisiana and the Mayor of New Oleans could do in the aftermath was to play the blame game in an attempt to cover up their own incompetence.

Anyone want to know what 100 years of uninterrupted democratic mayoral leadership looks like? Go to New Orleans. If you want to know what a state with 120 years of democratic leadership looks like, go to Louisiana. Do the words "corrupt sh*t holes" mean anything to anybody

How many Florida residents were stupid enough to stay in the path of a hurricane? None

Is it our fault our local and state governments have enough sense to prepare us. In addition, instead of keeping us enslaved with half of us depending on welfare we are actually provided an economy so "we ain't gonna hav 2 wait fo no dern bus so weez can run from that dog gone hericaine cuz".

Take your simplistic drivel to the play ground lemming. Or better yet, take it to New Orleans.

the big differnce between the two states is that Floridia has better hurricane managemant team. they have more of them and know how to handle them. it seems that La. did not have as many people on the ground as Flordia would. did not have a good communication set up. even their Governer did not know the extant of the damage. Flordia has the top of the line workings there and know hows to tell the federal government what it needs and where. in La. they did not know or ask for help until it was to late.

No most of the suffering was caused on a state and local level not on the federal level. They didn't have any evacuation plans in effect. When you live by the ocean, you have to plan for storms like Katrina.

Yes, but not because the Feds would have been any better. Jeb Bush is one of the most effective disaster managers at any level of government.

You know the old saying, "It's not what you but WHO you know." I think that sums it all up. I agree with you that Katrina was handled very poorly.

Wouldn't having Jeb as your governor be punishment enough?

yes, because he would have ask for help immediately, not waited to react. if La. wasn't so corrupt ,they would n't have had to worry about what the feds would find out, about what the La. leaders were trying to hide.....
