You need to have either a built-in wireless adapter, or you ened to buy a usb or pmcia card adapter. Then, you need to either subscrive to dsl or cable interent and get yourself a wireless router, OR you may luck out and find that your neighbors have wireless internet already and you could just get on it for free. Also, you could go to McDonalds, or coffee shops, that have free internet access.

It depends upon what you mean by wireless. If you are talking about local area wireless ... 802.11b or 802.11g, the kind at the airports, homes, some cities, libraries, universities, etc. then all you need to do is purchase an 802.11b or 802.11g wifi PCMCIA card. It will slide into a slot in the laptop and you will need to load the driver for the card.

The other kind of wifi these days is provided by the cellular suppliers, like Verizon and in that case you need to sign up for their service and buy their specialized PCMCIA card that talks to their network.

You need to get an internet service provider first. If you are lucky some areas are hot spots so you don't need to get one. You just have to have a wireless card install in your laptop.
