Who said he was using it to cut grass exactly? I'm guessing you dumped the deck and are doing this for fun? Play around with different pulleys.....I've seen a guy put a 3.5hp briggs (yes I AM NOT kidding) on a riding mower.... with the right pulley config.... runs around with it.

change it back
b/c when you made it faster you lost torque which means that the blades spin faster but they have less power
this is b/c the engine of the mower is putting out the same power (speed x torque = power) and since you increased speed you decreased torque so it is a lot like a car or truck, if you are going up hill you use a lower gear for more torque, less speed but on a flat highway, you use a high gear for more speed with less torque

Put the other pulleys back on. You don't have enough horse power to pull the high gear ratio now.

Your new pulleys are hard to turn on shaft, clean them thoroughly with WD 40, and after use a good silicone heavy duty lubricant, it will work fine.

If your mower bogs down then the grass is to tall.Changing the pulleys shouldn't make it bog down. You should always mow with the mower in the fast position.

Go back to the original pulleys or to smaller ones. Speed isn't what cuts your lawn; torque does. When you increase speed, you decrease torque.

You are stupid. You can't get something out of nothing (unless you have figured out how to change the laws of physics). You made it go faster but now with less power - let me guess, educated in America.
