I would like to know if you can have 2 internal disk drives in your computer at one time to save some space and some money instead of buying an external one. If you can't, I would like to know if you want to change your disk drive if you can transfer all the data on the original one to the new one.

It depends on the computer. If you're using a desktop computer, you can add at least one internal hard disk in most cases. It depends on if the computer has any empty drive bays. I have personally added additional hard drives to a couple of desktop computers I had. You user manual should provide the necessary information. If you don't have a user manual, check the manufacturer web site for the specific model.

You have your answers, but just to confirm, Yes, you can have two; I do. Prices keep coming down and an internal is much cheaper than an external. Set you second one up as a slave to the other one. Instructions will come with the new hard drive.

Definitely! Hardware isn't really my forte as far as computing goes, but adding a hard drive is easy to do. You just need to make sure you have an available slot in your tower available and an extra data cable connection. Refer to the drive's instructions for more details on setting jumpers and other things needed to make the drive work properly.

It's honestly not that hard; I installed a new one when I was 14 and had virtually no knowledge of hardware or computers in general.

In theory you can have an infinite number of hard drives...but good luck finding a way to power them all. Most computers are set up to have only two hard drives(though they come with only one most of the time). Issues with overheating may come up but if you have external hard drives then it shouldn't be a problem.

Also data transfer rates will shoot way down as you make a bigger and bigger system.

Your computer can probably have FOUR drives in all.

You have a PRIMARY and SECONDARY cable, with a Master and Slave on each one.

Your computer might already have a hard drive and CD Drive. That means that you are using only TWO. But you can add TWO MORE.

But you can also add network drives, USB drives. If your computer has the newer SATA cables inside, you can add even more internal drives (if you have the space inside the box).

Yes you can if you have a second slot for the hard drive. If you buy a larger one than what you have than you make the original hard drive the slave and the new one the master.

Yes absolutely! My computer has 2 120gb & can have up to 4 internal hard drives. And you can set them up any way you like, they will show up in Windows & you'll have access to both no problem.

Absolutely, but you might wanna put one hard drive as master on one IDE port, and the other hard drive as master on the second IDE port. Make sure though if you have two drives on the same IDE port, that one is set to master and one to slave or when the BIOS loads, it will get confused on which one is master and which one is slave, you might have boot problems. Also make sure that you have the BIOS set up to first boot from master hard drive.

You have 2 IDE channels, each channel can hold two drives. So you can have 4 drives. Remember each CD-ROM uses 1 channel.

I have two 120 Gigs to store all my movies and MP3's plus a DVD burner and CD burner.
