Well, on my Eisley answer, you are welcome. I think it would good to buy a dell. They are cheapish and work well. You may want an apple though. I use an apple all the time. They work the best.

Like some said, you get what you pay for. Dell is the only option you have. Unless you don't need brand new, if newer is close enough, then try the classifieds, or try a couple of local pawn shops, you might be surprised at the deals you will find. Computers while they lose value fast, they pawn in even cheaper.
Youcan find a decent machine current technology, will all the trims in it for around $500.00. Your only issue may be that there is no printer. Good Luck

I don't know Future Shop, Best Buy sometimes has good deals.
You can get a pretty good desktop with 500 or a pretty lousy laptop.

I agree with the others, go for a Dell. In my opinion they are the best, I have one myself and so do others i know. I have never heard any complaints about them, they are the top of the line when it comes to computers and you cant beat the prices. Good luck and God bless.

I've been very happy with my EMachine, and haven't heard anything bad from anyone who has one. Get the most you can get for your money. . .but I think you're going to be lucky to just get a good tower for $500.

500 is not a lot, it really depends on your computer needs. I would look for, for that price something with minimal (like 512mb?) Random Access Memory (RAM) and limited memory (100gb?)
Something like Emachines, Compaq or Hp's are cheap, although i dont realy like them ...............
