If ice does not occur naturally then you don't deserve the cup. Don't mind me I'm just a bitter Maple Leafs fan

What about Toronto Blue Jays winning back-to-back World Series...

I don't think deserve is the right word, but what it means to the city. If Edmonton won, the city is in chaos and EVERYONE will know and care about it. If a southern city won, maybe 1/3 or 1/4 or the population of the city would care.

I think it is good for the game of hockey to have different teams win it. But I still like Oilers to win or a Canadian team to win - it's our game and that's all we have! lol

Well, TB bolts won it last time, so having a southern cup winner is not so bad. It's been such a great playoffs overall.

Go Oils!

You could ask the same question about the US being allowed to play in the World Cup. But the real answer lies in the fact that people in the southern states root for their team as witnessed by the rabid fans in Carolina cheering on their Hurricanes. If Canadian fans cared so much about their teams there would be fewer teams in southern states and more teams still in Canada.

Its not fair to say that. Some of us grew up elsewhere. My family is from MI and we came to the South when i was a little kid. My dad has raised me to root for the Redwings of Detroit, and I am a fantic about the team. How dare you say that the south doesn't deserve it. We're apart of the States too. Just cause we don't have the harsh winters that make the best training stuff doesn't mean we should be denied it. After all, for figure skating Michael Wiess is from Virginia, and he is an Olypmpian, so what?

YES< YES< YES Actually there are a lot of northerners who have moved to the south who grew up with hockey. Also since having hockey in the south, southerners have also come to appreciate the game.

Yes, absolutely. This question is rather insulting. I didn't know that knowing how to skate was a prerequisite for watching a hockey game and being a fan!

Since players, unlike the old days, do not come up through their teams system. It's just big money business. Players are drafted, traded, bought and sold. Free agents go to the highest bidder and them claim it has nothing to do with the money. It really does not matter who wins, it's just business. Just sit back and enjoy the games.

a big percentage of the players are not from the south, however ifthe city is or state has ateam weather the local fans suppot it or not, they have every right to hoist and enjoy lordstanley's cup. in the long run it's better for the popularity of the game.
