thats too complicated for all the simple folk who fork out their hard'earned cash to go ta pictures...

you know after 3 and a half hours per film they couldnt add it all think if they added everyone in the books another few hours incresing the movies time they missed some other stuff notice in the book the quest takes years in the films its more like days

they did similar things to that all through the trilogy...i can only image that it was to save time or money...i didn't care for how they completely removed Glorfindel either, giving some of his scenes to Arwen....but, i have to say that they likely did the best that they could...i mean, to me, the movies are amazingly good.
