Actually all of them are worng. No three teams can go from a group, that happened last in 1994 when there were 24 teams. With 32 teams, only two progress from a group. In case of a tie as you mentioned , the qualifying campaigns of the teams are concerned, the team with better record go through.

I say rematch, with no tie available. OT repeatedly until there is a winner. Without someone winning a match, any other method of trying to pick a winner might leave the losing side calling it unfair.
Sounds like they looked at the most important figures, I wouldn't hope they leave this to some trivial stat...

actually there are a lot of examples. you can find at least 3.
they both advance and they find the second team an opponent from another group thats on 3rd place, thats scored most goals, and has most point than other teams on 3rd place.

goal differencial is the way fifa decides who goes to the next round.
And i think if they are tied with goal differencials, it comes down to less received goals.
