God put some random names in a hat and had St. Peter draw those names out. In the America's we got lucky. We were almost called Ohcrapistan.

Europe was named after a woman named Europa.

Africa was a daughter of Ham, son of Noah.

Asia was named after a princess or queen of Anatolia, which was later applied to the whole of the continent.

The N. and S. America were named for explorer Amerigo Vespucci who navigated his ships from Italy in the late 1400's.
