Over the short term is shouldn't cause any major damage, but you should be very carful taking anything like that over the long term if not perscribed by a doctor. The liver cleans out the system, but there are minute traces of toxins and drugs that get left behind that build up over time and will eventually render the liver unable to process things that are in the system. please ask a doctor about your use.

Why are you taking the tylenol every night? If it for sleep, take a Benedryl. Don't take it if you are not having pain and just want to sleep. It is not good to take meds if you really don't have to. I personally take 2 tylenol every morning due to herniated disks and my liver function tests are very good. So, no, 2 tylenol will not harm you but I would question on why you are taking them and if there is something better to solve the problem without taking something that you don't need. Marketing is powerful to make you think that you need something that you don't. By the way, all medication is metabolized in the liver.

You are on what is called extensive medications. According to your age, this is very bad I should say. I believe those pm's are like 500 mg each. Stop taking them without any reason. Take those only when you have like a light headache or some other symptoms. This will definitely damage you liver, and in the long run, this can be very fatal !

Hi. Let me clear somethings first before making any statements:

Tylenol PM is the trademark for a mixture of paracetamol(acetaminophen) and diphenhydramine, distributed by Johnson & Johnson. It is marketed as a combined analgesic and sedative, or more simply, pain reliever and sleep aid, intended to treat occasional headaches and minor aches and pains with accompanying sleeplessness.

As such, if your intention is to use it as a sleeping aid as well as follow the prescribed dosage, then no problem. Also, drink plenty of water to help your liver flush out excess residue of the chemicals (as Tylenol PM is a combination of multiple chemicals) However, let me clarify this by saying that if your problem is sleeplessness, then long term, it would be best to seek alternative medication or help to cure this concern.

Hope this helps you.

it's unlikely you would have liver damage from that low of a dose, it's the people who take it every 4 hours every single day after day that wind up in trouble. As long as you follow the guidelines on the box about the amount to take in 1 day you should be ok. My father is 83 as of tomm and he has taken it every night to sleep since it came out and he's ok.

Yes, Tylenol is one of the most toxic over the counter drugs on the market. There are over 60,000 cases of liver toxicity reported at hospitals every year. Acetametaphine is especially dangerous if every mixed with alcohol. This combination destroys, arguably the most important liver cells we have pytochrome P-450. Its a heavily guarded secret.....

If that is the normal recommended dose it should be safe, UNLESS there is something already wrong with your liver or you are taking additional medications (or alcohol) that might make your liver more prone to damage.

Two every night---wow, that's a bit much. Whatever your problem is, you shouldn't be taking that many EVERY night. Yes, it can damage your body. On the bottle it should say how many, at the max. to consume before there's a problem.

Well I hope that was helpful.

Probably not, unless you have some liver problem already such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, or any of the chronic liver diseases. Also, drinking excessive amounts of alcohol won't help.
