Make sure you seperate the colors and whites!! But you can also use color catchers in the laundry. They work great! I put them in every load of clothes I have. It keeps the dyes from settling on the other clothes in the wash.

First thing, whenever you get new clothes that are BOLD or DARK, wash alone or with like colors (with with old and/or black stuff that you don't really care about) the first few times.
WASH IN COLD WATER. If you have a second rinse option on your washer, use it (I always do with new clothes, but only because I forget to pay attention and don't want my clothes to bleed all over).
There is a product that you can buy, found in the laundry/cleaning aisle. Don't know who makes it, but it's Color Catcher. They're like dryer sheets, but you put them in the washer, and they're supposed to attract the dyes that are extracted from new clothes.

Wash Whites in hot, Lights in warm, Darks in cold and Perma press according to label. Look at all labels before you wash anything because some things you have to wash inside out, some line dry and some hand wash.Be careful and follow directions you should be fine!

There is a laundry product called Color Block, I think they are manufactured by the same company that makes Bounce. there are several of these on the market. You can get it in the laundry aisle at the grocery store. I have tried them and they do work,..

You can also soak your clothes in a salt solution for about an hour before you wash them. This should set the colour.

Shout color catchers. But use common sense - don't put a red shirt in with your whites!!!
