I've read hundreds of books on serial killers, trying to figure out what makes a person "snap". Who would you rate in your top 3 as being the most heinous?

A serial killer doesn't snap-but has a need that can only be met by murder-if they snapped it would just be a gruesome killing and easier to solve but serial killers plan and are methodical and some even fairly intelligent to avoid capture for a very long time uch as . Getty who did charity work in Children's Ward in Hospitals as a clown, Was a respected businessman-Contractor-and a well liked member of his community but sexually attacked,tortured and killed scores of young men for many years before being caught.Buried them under,near his house and the smell finally got him caught.Then the Bind,Torture,Kill-can't think of his name but killed whole family-his method was to slowly strangle and looked like a rather mousy guy -bald and mustache and also a well respected Community member and respected in his church,but the one I felt sorry for was Aileen...the female serial killer from Florida who would let men pick her up usually she'd hitch on interstate and then kill (shot them to death) at the rest stops-with her it began when one of the men attempted to rape her but then found it easy to get money. Felt sorry for her for obvious she was mentally off and shouldn't have been executed. I think most serial killers are a result of abuse-often very severe in their childhood-but instead of seeking help which is available they choose to act on their sickness.

BTK - freaking pyscho would have his victims help lock her children in another room then kill her.... made me sick to my stomach when I saw that on tv about him.
He always targetted women with children after watching them go inside from playing because he said children were more apt to easily open the door.... jesus....

I think Jack the Ripper was pretty sick, and that was in the 19th century. The stuff he got away with would not happen now thanks to forensic science, but he was a pioneer in sickness! I did a research paper on him, and it freaked me out!
