I currently own a Dell Dimension 2400, it has an Intel Celeron processor, and 256mb of RAM, and a total of only 40gb of hd space, Im almost out of room. Will upgrading my memory and HD help?, if so, how do I find out what kind of HD is compatible with my pc.

Try the site below, or the Dell website might have it. An external hard drive might be a good idea, as you just plug it into a USB port and use it. It can be transferred between computers too. Upgrading the RAM would help too. Today's computer require at least 512 MB to run average programs.

Another 256 MB of RAM will help, more would be so-so.

You would probable use a ATA-100 hard drive, not SATA.

You can put the service tag into the Dell website, and it will tell you the kind of memory and hd to use.

You wouldn't have to upgrade your memory if you don't want to, but it'll help your computers overall performance. As for HDs, depending on how big a HD you want and how much you want to spend check out shopper.com for the latest prices http://shopper-search.cnet.com/search?part=&q=Desktop+Hard+Drives That'll defenitly help if you're running out of space.

You should have at least 512mb of memory (ram) in any computer these days. It will help. As far as a hdd, go with the largest 7200rpm drive you can afford. I think you can get a 300Gig drive these days for less than $150.
