I am an attractive and self-confident person who is outspoken and social.Whenever I feel a anxious in a social setting, I get very flushed and red and blotchy. Most people will blush a little, but this is so obvious it just makes me more nervous. I am always articulate and my body language is relaxed.....so no one would even know I'm feeling nervous if it wasnt' for the stupid rash all over my face and neck! It's ridiculous. Situations like when I have to give my opinion at a PTA meeting and all eyes are on me, or when I'm with a difficult client, or if I have to tell someone off.....it happens and then suddenly I look like an idiot. I want to avoid those situations altogether, but these are normal life situations that anyone can deal with! Next year I'm VP of the PTA at my kids' school and I wonder how the heck I'm gonna speak my mind without the tell-tale sign giving me away. It first happened when I was suprised at my bridal shower when I was 22. Anyone else have this?

Woman, I seriously don't know what it is myself, but I have the same problem. I'm telling you----I am very social, blunt from time to time, confident, and attractive. I don't know what it is. You're right, most people will just blush a little bit in their cheeks, but no, not me, I turn super red, all in my face.

I can't stand it! It's embarrassing to the extreme.

Anyway, I saw a commerical on T.V. months ago that talked about this very problem. It was advertising a medication for it! I was weary, just for the mere fact that it was medication. I can't remember what it was called, and since then, that has been the first and last time I've seen the commerical.

Well I guess all I can say is----you're not alone.

I think it is a case of social anxiety mixed with the fear of blushing, which makes the blushing even worse. I've read that the best technique for that kind of problem is to use the "paradoxical intention". You have to tell yourself "I'm going to blush so badly that everybody will notice it and I will show them how red I can turn", so, since you are doing it "on purpose", then you won't blush!
I hope it works.

awww, its ok, nothing to be ashamed of or self conscious about
one of my friends had this problem too, but she just turned red all over, a slightly deep red
i just thought it was cute!

and I am sure that is what everyone else thinks, trust me!
it just shows that you, too, are nervous just like anyone else would be in that kind of situation, and people find that to be modest in a way, which is a good thing

trust me, it's cute
