Here is what you do.
Just say, "fine mom, I won't take the car, but that means that I also won't work, and you can pay for everything i need"
she will probably give in

Well if that would be your first car and first time TRUELY away from home then yes you will have a tendency to get out and explore the world. Which comes naturally! I did, but I never went to college. And your mom needs to realize if you are fixen to go to college you aren't a baby and you need to discover who you really are! She is over reacting in a way and at the same time she is being concerned about her little baby! Which also come natuarlly for mothers, it's just some are worse than others. Sit down and talk to your mom about how you really feel. And be sincere.

Well at my university incoming freshmen have to park really far from most of the dorms and things like that. I've even heard that some colleges won't even allow their freshmen students to have a car. I think your mom might be more concerned about college age people drinking and driving. At my school we have a bar that's really close to campus and most of the people do drink and drive from there. Maybe you should sit down with her and have a heart to heart and tell her the benefits having a car would be. I would definitely throw in if your school is quite a distance away that you won't be able to come home as often as you like to visit her and your other family...that might hit a soft spot. GOOD LUCK

Your mom has a point.
As a freshman you will be eager to fit in. As someone with a car, everyone will be hitting you up for rides and asking to borrow your car. You don't want to be a jerk and say no, so you end up tooling around with a bunch of freeloaders.
Agree, get the hang of college and ask her when you are back at Christmas break. By then you will have a semester under your belt and will have friends so you won't be so apt to be used.

Well your mom has a point, but she's only seeing the negative. The positive is that it will give you access to study groups for your classes. And the car will allow you to hold a job and school. She needs to understand this.

If $2000 will fulfill her vehicle personal loan, i do not imagine she could do it. it type of appears like she is on the top of her personal loan, and has already paid the great majority of activity on it (maximum activity is paid on the starting up of the non-public loan, in the route of the top, that's usually correct). however the vehicle's APR is larger, if she is only about executed paying for it, she's already paid the intense activity. she will be able to be in fact financing that $2000 for numerous more desirable years, for this reason paying even more desirable money in activity. for sure, if she will't take care of the vehicle charge, then she would evaluate it. sounds like she needs to purchase more desirable stuff than she has the flexibility to pay for, or perhaps to pay off. She could imagine intently about no matter if she needs a laptop pc, and how considerable her dental artwork is to do immediately.

OMG! Your mom has lost her mind!!!! You're right...without a car it'd be hard to get to work. Sure, if you live in a big city, you could take a bus but it's soooo inconvenient having to wait for a bus when you're just ready to go! Your mom is just afraid because she knows what college is like and she knows what people do in college. They party and drink. But I know alot of people in college who party and drink and still go to class and get good grades.
If the car is in your name, tell your mom to kiss your mother f*ckin a** and get the f*ck over it. If the car is in her name...I feel sorry for you because ultimately, she has power over that car. My advice to anyone whose parents buy them a car or help them buy a car...get it in your name because they love using it against you. Don't give them that power.

well she's kinda right, but for the wrong reason ... she thinks that u're gonna want to party and stuff, but u want the car to work... but if u find a job that requires driving, isn't that gonna affect your studies a bit?? maybe u can find a job on campus, that way you can also save on u're gas money too!! *gimme the 10 points!!*

Your Mom is being overprotective, that's what Mom's do. But if the car's in her name, it's her perogative.
