My parents have passed along too, but I have many memories of their relationship and admiration for each other. One memory I have of them was when my mom was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer. Fearing that somehow she would be unattractive to my dad, she spent a great deal of money on her prosthesis. I knew I had heard a conversation that wasn't meant for anyone but them, but I'm glad I heard my dad tell her that the prosthesis wasn't necessary because he loved her forever, no matter how she looked. They had a wonderful 2 more years after that.

My fondest memories of my parents are how they were genuinely honest, caring people. I was adopted by them and never treated any different. I adored their differences because that is what balanced them as a couple. There was always structure to our household - dad went to work, mom was at home, and dinner was promptly on the table at 4:30pm everyday. My parents insisted on respect even if we didn't agree and they instilled morals and values in my sister and I. They always tried to do what was right and I honor them for it. My parents were a blessing. When I had my daughters, they were insistent to care for them while I worked. This allowed my parents the wonderful opportunity to spend more time with their grandchildren and my girls to truly know how deeply their nanny and papa loved them.
I lost my mom four years ago and my dad passed just this January. I deeply miss them and there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of them. I had the privilege of acquiring my childhood home and my girls and I now live there. This was my parents' wish and we were able to make that happen. I know my parents are smiling down on me and are very proud and that keeps me going through these very difficult days.
Cherish your parents always........always do things for them just like they did when they raised you.

I remember my mom and dad dancing in the dining room to the song "Behind Closed Doors". He was terminal with cancer and that was the last dance the had with each other. The whole family was there.
