I know a lot of people with ipods who love them. I researched many MP3 player and decided to go with the Creative Zen Vision M. I read many complaints that the ipods battery life is shorter and that they sometimes "just stop." I also read that it takes a long time to get repaired. I love my Creative Zen. It holds more songs, pictures, videos, and also has FM radio. You can record a song that is playing on the radio and store it. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have some sort of strap on carrying case. Check out what user say about MP3 players on http://www.epinions.com and http://crutchfield.com Good luck!

You only hear about the bad things in life, never the good. Yes, the iPod batteries may not last a long time, but that is if you leave the iPod constantly connected to a power supply to recharge. Let the battery drain all or most of the way (when it shows a red batter on the screen) and then recharge it.
Also, buy AppleCare when you buy an iPod. If you ever have problems, you can call Apple and have them hopefully help you fix the problem. After about a year and a half, your battery may seem to not last as long. This is normal. Before the AppleCare two year mark runs out, call Apple and tell them you need the battery replaced in your iPod and you get it replaced for owning AppleCare.

Honestly, I haven't heard anything bad about them. I have had mind for about 3 years and love it. They used to have a pretty bad reputation for battery life, but that isn't a problem anymore. If you are using a Mac (and everyone should!) you pretty much have to use an iPod as other media players will most likely not work. With windows, you can get just about any mp3 player. It really depends on how you are going to use it. If you are going to download music from a site such as iTunes, Napster, etc, that should go into your decision. If you are going to use iTunes Music Store, then the songs downloaded from there only work on an iPod, and if you use any of the other sites, they will work on any other player except the iPod.

IPODS are very good, cool, and everything else. The reason some people say that the Battery sucks is because if you get the 60 gigabyte one they have to sacrifice battery for memory room. Ipods are still in my opinion the best.

No. They are an excellent buy. Besides being able to use it to listen to music and watch videos, it can be used as a planner and a back-up hard drive, amongst other things. I have the 30gig video iPod. It's the best thing I ever bought, the video quality is amazing, despite the small screen and it really makes my days so much better, especially because I walk a lot around the city.

it depends on what which generation you have, I have a second and fourth generation and the differences are crazy. The newer one plays at least 8 hrs. It does seem the older they get the shorter the battery life, I.E. with the older one it used to play 8 hrs now I only get 4 or 5 hrs out of it. The newest ones, though I don't have personal experience with them, just as anything run on a battery will last depending on what you do with them. Just listening to music it's going to last longer than if you're watching videos.

The only bad thing about IPods is the batteries frequently run out.

as a person who sells ipods let me just say this they are great until your battery dies or the product quits working because no electronics store has the go ahead to do a repair it has to be returned to apple for all repairs. than when they get it they just simply put it in a bin and print out a list of people who need them and you will be lucky if you get yours back and not somebody elses.

The person who told you that it sucks probably couldn't afford one. They're really great devices. The design makes it easy to control, the features get better all the time, and they're really addictive. Just don't turn it up past the halfway mark for an extended period.
