The reason people over look Spain is their past record as massive underachievers - though Ukraine looked oddly jaded last night and Shevchenko looked like a starving man on his own up front, Spain were quality. I think that the Spanish nation has woken to the fact that club football is not the be all and end all and that it's all very well having the best club side in Europe, but the national side was in danger of becoming a joke. I think they are as good a bet as anyone, except perhaps the Czech Republic who went off at odds which didn't really match their excellent chance of winning....

They could indeed. People discount Spain because they have a reputation (and self-image) as unlucky losers. Be it penalties, minnows or bad refereeing decisions. This time round, they have a pretty good team (as they normally do) and have got off to a good start. The law of averages probably suggests that Spain will have a good tournament sometime soon. As long as it's not at England's expense then good luck to them!

Spain could certainly be the surprise package of the world cup.the event is being played in Europe.where traditionally European clubs do well.Brazil have only won one of their 5 cup victories in Europe.that was Sweden in 1958.so they have history on their side.they were very impressive against the Ukraine.but it was the Ukraine's first world cup.and they did not do themselves justice.but there are other good teams out there.i think the winner will come from.Brazil,England,Argentina,Spain,Italy,

SPAIN IS NEVER A SURPRISE PACKAGE BUT THEY ARE THE ONLY TEAM WITH A WORSE PENALTY RECORD THAN ENGLAND SO SORRY SPAIN ENGLAND FOR THE CUP.

Spain had a very good team hte last two world cup, and they choked. Maybe they won't this time.

there is a good chance but like any team they've got to be the best on the day,but they did play well probaly the best team display so far but we're only one game into the tournament
