Yes, calm yourself and focus on your breathing. Pay attention to your breath and make it slower while repeating to yourself "peace be unto this body." Works wonders.

Find a quiet place, and a comfortable position. Your whole body should be supported, so try a chair or a sofa. Loosen any tight clothes, remove your watch, shoes and glasses. Take two, or three deep breaths and as you are breathing out, imagine the muscle tension going away. Clencth ur fists, and hold for 10 seconds. Then enjoy the relaxation for 10-20 seconds. Tense your arms, tightening ur bicepts and tricepts, hold for 10 seconds, sand then relax for 10-20 seconds. Raise your eye brows and tense ur forehead muscles for 10-20 seconds and then let go. Tighten your neck muscles, hold, and then let go. As for mental thinking, dont say anyhting like 'im having an heart attack' or anyhting. It is not, and it is just a panic attack. Grab a bag and slowly start inhaling in and breathing out. Hope this helps! Jess (good luck)

When I am feeling overwhelmed by something, I walk away from it for a little while. I know this sounds like I'm being a chicken, but I always come back. I try to understand where the other person is coming from, even if I don't agree with their viewpoint.
For example, last week at work (I just started 3 weeks ago), one of the managers told me that I should be fired because I wasn't being very talkative. It wasn't because I don't like my coworkers, it is because I don't know them well enough to laugh and joke with them. I had to walk away from the manager at that point, and completed the tasks that she asked me to do. While I was working, I was thinking about what she said, and how it made me feel. When I was close to getting ready to leave, I pulled her aside, and talked to her. I told her how upset it made me when she said that I should be fired. I told her why I wasn't very talkative to the other coworkers. She actually apologized and said she didn't realize that it had upset me so badly.
Sometimes, I even talk to my parents about what is going on. Believe it or not, they can offer some great advice as to how to handle a situation, whether between you and a friend or you and a coworker.
Hope it helps!!

Experiment with different words and phrases. What works well for someone else may not work that well for you. Also, when you repeat it, breathe deeply with your lower abdomen.
