well...if you've never played before, just remember...teeth on top, lips on the bottom, for low register notes, open your throat to play (you'll feel it), and constantly work on crossing the break (you'll learn what that is too), because that can be a pain in the beginning...sax is the same, but easier, because it's all "buttons" and not holes to cover... =P

START LISTENING TO CLASSICAL AND JAZZ MUSIC ANYWHERE YOU CAN then you start to learn what one is supposed to sound like Artie Shaw was a great Jazz clarinetist...look for classical cd's that say" symphony or whater for CLARINET. Mozart for example wrote a lot of stuff for clarinet. YOU HAVE TO LISTEN A LOT so your computerbrain gets the "right sound"burned into it

u need a clarinet reed, a mouthpiece and obviously a clarinet. nd yea a music book.

It is hard to play, my daughter has one, and I can not make it squeak never mind play a note.......lol
