I had a great time in the Navy. It made me into the man I am today. I was an HM1. I booted in San Diego, Ca and served from 1987 to 1999. I went alot of places around the world and served mostly with the USMC...SEMPER FI...Saw some action in Somalia and Kosovo, though it wasn't as scary as being a Corpsman now with Iraq, and Afghanistan.
I would say that you get out of it what you put in....If you get up every morning with a smile, then you will have a great time...if not....well that's another story...If you LEARN to LOVE the people, (USA), you serve then serving your country will be a joy.
Buck up Shipmate...The end is yet to come!

As with any experience, it's what you make it. At times, it was awful...but I made some great friends, saw some awesome places and grew up a lot! I also met my husband while on active duty...so for me, my time in the Navy (11 years active and reserves) was priceless!
