It most certainly should!
Gay marriage is and never was a threat to straight marriage, seeing as how there are legal statutes supporting straight marriage that have been in place for centuries!
It's okay if a particular religion doesn't want to do gay weddings - it's their damage, right? But civil law is well, civil. It's about the law, and equal treatment in the eyes of the law.
And let's think about it ... right now I can go out, find any guy I just picked up at a bar, and marry him straight away. But the woman I've been living with, doing finances with, and raising a child with for the past 10 years? Hell no - the two of us can't possibly be allowed to get married!
Banning gay marriage is flat out discrimination - it's just that simple.

Yeah. Why not? Is marriage really as sacred as it was back in say, the 1950s (when it probably was not that sacred either just not as exposed as today)? Look at the marriage shows on television (or that once were on television)...Joe Millionaire, My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance...bottom line: marriage is not held to such a high regard and gay marriage would not change anything. The only reason it is an issue is because Bush needs to appear more conservative so he will gain a better approval rating.

Yes. People should be free to do what they want. Legal should not be a problem. Of course I can see how the spiritual side could be a problem, but there are ways to work that out.
I honestly don't know what the fuss is about, except for the fact that religions lobby governments to create a society that fosters their ideals - so lots of money gets involved in the politics too I think. Live and let live I say! Let everyone work out their relationship with god on their own time and in their own way and lets have our governments protect our civil liberties.

Frankly, I don't care much about the subject, one way or the other...
I suppose what bothers me the most about this matter, particularly in the U.S., is that a number of plausible compromises, such as 'civil unions', have been offered by the overwhelmingly straight majority who, for whatever reasons, want to keep the word 'marriage' within the realm of a union between a man and a woman.
However, these patently workable compromises have been rejected by a short-sighted gay minority lobby.
I find this lack of a will to compromise appalling, for the only way progress can be made in the future is to seek compromise within the present.

Yes.Yes.Yes. But marriage is so political now, even in heterosexual marriage. It's just a piece of paper, that in the end can change a relationship. But legally every human being should have the right to whomever they love. Because when I die I want the right to have my wife there by my side, and right now we can't have that privilege as lesbians and gays.

Since when does Love have to be legal? It cannot and will never be legal world-wide because of bigots, politics and economics. Too many governments, religions and opinions.

yes it definitely should. The world always needs more love. Legalizing gay marriage would only be benificial for everyone. Religon is religon, it is seperate from what we're talking about. It is not for anyone to judge what is good/right/ moral abotu anyone else, that is only for God to do.

I strongly belive in gay marriage being legal.
im straight myself. but i find it the most frustrating thing that people are only legal to be "straight" Everyone is Attracted to a certain person. weather that person looks a certain way or is a certain race. its the same with gender. a man could be attracted to blonde woman or he could be attracted to Brown haired men. everyone is atracted to someone weather is based on gender, race, hair color. next thing we know the bibles gonna say that people arent allowed to marry if one persons black and one persons white.
Thiers nothing wrong with it. it should be legal.

Who am i to define what constitutes a love worthy of marriage.
At the end of the day,
Love is the one feeling the whole world over.
I think that it should be legal and not treated with such disrespect. or the current levels of phobia.
