1. Try blow drying the ear gently. It could be trapped water.
or
2. Try a drop of rubbing alcohol in the ear a couple of times a day and give it a few days to work
If all else fails, it could be that soft wax has blocked the ear canal and it needs to be irrigated. You can buy flush kits at the pharmacy, but it may be better to see your doctor

Could simply be a lot of earwax. You should really consult with a doctor regarding this. Do not put anything in the ear smaller than your elbow. That is what my nursing instructor has always told us. It could also be fluid building up in the ear as well. If you wiggle the outside rim of the ear and there is no pain you should inspect the ear for redness or edema (swelling)- Have you been swimming a lot? Do you listen to loud music via headphones? Is there any drainage? Also, are you having dizziness? Try going to a dept store (wal mart) etc and looking for an in home irrigation kit for your ears ..If there is wax build up you should be able to take care of it. Also, DILUTE a very very small amount of rubbing alcohol with water and try dropping a few small drops in the ear to dry up anything. Most important if none of these work..see a doctor..

You could have a mild ear infection, or swimmers ear, but most likely you have a bunch of wax built up and it has impacted next to your eardrum. You can't get it out with a q-tip, it will only get in there worse. It sounds silly, but you really need to go to a doctor and they can clear it out for you in no time. You should get it taken care of, though, or else you are more likely to get an infection and suffer permanent hearing damage.

try putting some hydrogen peroxide on the end of a q-tip and cleaning it out that way - it seems to work wonders!
